MIG welding gases (Metal Inert Gas) and MAG welding gases (Metal Active Gas) are specifically selected to optimize the performance of the Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) process, the most widely used welding process in manufacturing and fabrication. The distinction lies in the reactivity of the shielding gas: MIG uses inert gases like argon, while MAG uses active gases like CO₂ or mixtures containing CO₂.
